These drill heads are used in the installation of the bridge piers that will support the two towers for the Downtown Span of the Ohio River Bridges Project in Louisville KY. The steel caissons behind them will be placed in the river and filled with concrete to create the foundation for the bridge.
I created this image from a bracket set of three frames shat at +2, 0 and -2 EV. The dynamic range was pretty wide due to the effect of shooting through the caissons to capture the Louisville shoreline. Using HDR shooting techniques and NIK HDR Efex Pro 2 I was able to create a high dynamic range image that shows the shoreline as well as the interior of the caissons.
Love this! Wonderful photograph of equipment! If you look at the image for a while, there are surreal qualities, a great aspect to the photograph! Beautiful!
Thank you Ellen that is a very nice description of the photo/
