SemiAutobracketing for HDR – How to Extend Your Exposure Bracketing Series – farbspiel photography

I’ve been taking some time off to work on some skills enhancement lately and haven’t found the time to write. After I read this article this morning on the Farbspiel Photography blog; I thought it would be a good post for many of the readers here at SpeedDemon2 to see. While I still think a tripod is the best solution for shooting HDR images I can foresee situations where shooting handheld may be the only option.

When shooting handheld a simple way to get the images in alignment during shooting is to use the focus point as a sight and place it on a feature within the frame that you can easily register on such as a small object or a point of intersection such as a horizontal element and a vertical element that cross each other.

You will still need to use the alignment feature of your chosen software but the result should be a much more accurate series of images to merge. You can also use this technique when you need to take the camera down from your eye and want to return to the same framing for a subsequent shot.
