In this post you will see that as the Downtown Span approaches completion; it is on target to be open before the end of 2015.

The work on the Ohio River Bridges Project Downtown Span is moving so fast it is becoming more and more difficult to shoot, edit and post the photos I’m getting now. With Ironworkers, Raising Gangs and Cable Stay Gangs, working feverishly to complete their tasks it is hectic to say the least. As soon as they have done their parts the Carpenters and Laborers fall in and complete the deck infill so that another section can be added and another set of Cable Stays can be attached.

I have tried to identify the men and women in these images but I may have missed some names. I encourage anyone who sees a mistake to comment and let me know so that I can give credit where credit is due.

  1. Nice work, Nick. Strong images of both the work and the workers. Seeing all those cables is amazing. Incredible color on your images as well as bold compositions. Good job!

  2. As a retired member of Ironworkers Local 70, I am really impressed with your photos. Some of the best I’ve ever saw depicting our craft. Thank you.

    1. Thank you Jimmy I am doing my best to show the day to day lives of the men and women building this project as well as the bridge itself. I am very pleased to hear that it resonates with someone who knows what the day of an Ironworker entails.
