About speeddemon2

I am a professional fine art photographer who loves motorcycles and anything on wheels that goes fast. I travel primarily on my 2007 Harley-Davidson Road Glide which allows me to see the scenery from the saddle and be inspired by the vistas that are just around the next turn in the road.

  3. Nick, looks great. This is probably about as close to what your eye sees and you can get with out overdoing it. Sooo, where does that leave us in light of your previous two posts?

Richard I suppose the best reply I can give is “It Depends” ; if the subject is static and you have the time I think multiple exposures make a lot of sense especially if there is a large range of light to dark. On the other hand if there is no practical way to shoot multiple exposures then using NIK HDR Efex Pro2 or another HDR program to enhance the tonal range may get you where you hope to be.

I don’t think there is a right or wrong way to use the HDR tools; it is more a matter of deciding what the photograph is saying and processing for that result. Personally I’ll keep on using both methods as I process my photos and try to remain conscious of what my plan is for the final image when I trip the shutter. This morning for instance I shot mostly single frames with good histograms that should produce acceptable images.

One additional caveat, I only shoot in RAW so that I have as much data as possible for my final processing. There is no use trying to create HDR from JPG images; there is simply too much data discarded in the JPG conversion to get good results in HDR.
